Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag 2020
It is time for another book tag! This time I wasn't tagged by anyone but I really wanted to do this tag. It is June and now is the perfect time to do the Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag. I found this book tag on Alyssa's Blog.
What is the best book you have read so far in 2020?
This is a hard one because I have read a lot of books I really liked. I have to say The Wicked King by Holly Black. It is a book I will never forget. It was bewildering. Holly Black is such an amazing author. I reviewed the whole series. You can read the post here.
What is the best sequel you have read so far in 2020?
The best book I've read this year is a sequel so I'll repeat myself: The Wicked King by Holly Black.
What is a new release that you haven’t read yet but want to?
Incendiary by Zoraida Córdova. I requested this on NetGalley but my request was denied. I still want to read it but I have so many books waiting to be read that this one will have to wait a little longer.
What is your most anticipated release for the second half of the year?
Star Daugther by Shveta Thakrar. The synopsis looks so good and that cover. It's absolutely gorgeous.
What was your biggest disappointing book so far?
Descendant of the Crane by Joan He. I had such high hopes for it, but I didn't connect with anything. The characters were boring and the story was so slow-paced. I finished it because I got it from NetGalley and promised to review it. I pushed through but probably wouldn't have if I had bought it myself. You can read the review on the book here.
What was your biggest surprising book so far?
I would say... See These Bones by Chris Tullbane. When I read the blurb I was intrigued and I knew I was going to like the book. But when I read it, it just blew my mind. There wasn't a thing I didn't like about this book! I reviewed it, read it here.
Who is your favorite new author (debut or new to you?
I have so many new favorite authors! Holly Black, Margaret Owen, Brandon Sanderson and Rani De Vadder!

What books made you cry?
I am someone who easily cries but so far this year no book has made me cry (yet).
What is one book that made you happy?
Toxine by Rani De Vadder. I don't know many fantasy stand-alones that are this good.
What is the most beautiful book you have bought or received so far this year?
Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson.
What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
The list is pretty long!
Ashes of the Sun by Django Wexler
Seven Devils by Laura Lam and Elizabeth May
The Bone Shard Daughter by Andrea Stewart
The Crowns of Crosswald by D.E. Knight
The Girl with the Whispering Shadow by D.E. Knight

This list will probably grow! Some books I will review in Dutch!
I had a lot of fun doing this book tag. I want to do more tags in the future. I would like to tag Liza from The Inharmonious Heroïne, Em from What Em's Reading, and Julie from One Book More. As always everyone is free to participate and no one should feel obligated to do the tag!
